Next Up for PSAC: Will Lowe, October 27

"I am a political methodologist specializing in statistical text analysis with applications to, frankly, anything that seems interesting. Most recently that’s social media and political mobilization, ideal point scaling, and central bankers. But not together, obviously. Some of that is over here and in the trusty CV. I work at Q-APS in the Department of Politics at Princeton as Senior Research Specialist. Apparently this means I do things to do with research, I’m old, and I’m special. You may also wish to follow Santiago Olivella and address me as Señor Research Specialist. I’m also a Lecturer in Public and International Affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School, where I teach Juniors just enough research design and statistics to survive their Junior Papers, in the somewhat alarmingly named ‘Methods Lab’. Each summer I teach POL 245 at the Freshman Scholars Institute where we teach incoming students an awful lot of causal inference, statistics, and coding in a very short period. We’ve just finished and I’m tired. This year I’m helping organize the eighth annual Text as Data conference at Princeton, so come along if you like that kind of thing. You can find me answering questions on stats.stackexchange.com, writing code on GitHub, and wittering on Twitter. There’s a blog here too. Alternatively you can ponder some biographical stuff, or just a picture.
