Vivekinan Ashok is a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow at Cornell University (2018-2021) and a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Government. He is also a faculty affiliate of the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research. He studies American politics, political economy, and methodology. His substantive research centers on understanding how citizens form preferences about economic policies, focusing on their demands for redistribution and government spending. He also works on methodology, with interests in experimental design and analysis, causal inference, and applied statistics.
Vivek Ashok received his Ph.D. in Political Science (2018) and M.A. in Statistics from Yale University. He was a Graduate Student Fellow at the Institution for Social and Policy Studies (ISPS) and served as the founding manager of the ISPS Behavioral Research Lab. Prior to graduate school, he was an economic consultant at Analysis Group, Inc. where he worked on complex securities, finance, and insurance matters. Vivek Ahok holds an A.B. in Economics and Political Science (Honors) from the University of Chicago.
