Overview

Emily is a Post-Doctoral Associate at Cornell University in the Department of Government. She received her PhD in International Education from New York University.

Research Focus

Emily's research focuses on the intersections between political institutions, education, and perceptions of inequality in conflict-affected countries, and education sector reform after war. Her work has been published in the International Journal of Educational Development, Africa Spectrum, Compare: A Journal of International and Comparative Education, and the Journal of Intervention and Statebuilding.

Awards and Honors

Emily recently served as a guest editor for the Journal on Education in Emergencies’ Special Issue on Education in Pandemics. Her dissertation, Education Access and Perceived Inequality after War: Continuity and Change in Post-War Burundi, recently won APSA’s Education Politics and Policy Section’s Best Dissertation Award. Her work has been funded by the German International Development Agency's Global Leadership Academy, the Mastercard Foundation, UNU-WIDER, and the Shearwater Foundation.
