Overview
Emma MacCallum is a PhD student in Comparative Politics with a regional focus on Latin America. Her research interests include social movements, political violence, and weak states. She is especially interested in studying the behavior of social movements amidst civil conflicts and rampant state weakness.
Professional Experience
Prior to starting her PhD, she earned a B.A. in Government and Latin American Studies from Colby College. She then worked as a Research Assistant at Colgate University and at the Do Good Institute at the University of Maryland, College Park. She has conducted fieldwork in Havana and Santiago, Cuba.
