I'm a PhD candidate in Comparative Politics and International Relations. My research (co-authored with Jeremy Wallace and Jessica Chen Weiss) has been published in the China Quarterly. Prior to beginning my PhD studies I was Associate Director of the John L. Thornton China Center at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C.
Research Focus
My research explores the role of political speech and ideology in authoritarian political parties, focusing on case studies of China, Indonesia and Myanmar.
