GOVT faculty receive ALI grant to redesign undergraduate courses

The Department is the latest recipient of a large-scale grant as part of the Active Learning Initiative (ALI), supported by Cornell's Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Innovation and the Center for Teaching Innovation. The initiative supports faculty in redesigning undergraduate courses to implement research-based active learning strategies to improve undergraduate education at Cornell.

The grants brings almost 300k in support to the department, and is led by principal investigators Chris Way, Ali Cirone, Sabrina Karim, and Sergio Garcia-Rios. This team will help develop, implement, and assess active learning activities in four undergraduate courses (focusing on data science and methods, disinformation in politics, and political violence). As a result of the grant, the department is also able to hire a 3-year postdoc, to support the project and contribute to the academic community here.
